To Mr. Burgess I may observe, I was indebted for the most essential advice and assistance in his capacity as Legal Adviser, as well as in the drafting and preparation of the various Ordinances (both in the Colonial and Superintendents Departments) which I had occasion to enact. I hope I do not exceed my province when I solicit Your Lordship, solely on public grounds, to place Mr. Burgess' name on the list of legal Gentlemen who are willing and anxious to be employed in the Colonies. I feel quite sure that he will give satisfaction to Her Majesty's Government in any situation in which he may be placed; otherwise I would not venture to intrude this recommendation in his favour.
